The Ventix18+
The tables

Cards on the old stalls floor

Eleven tables across three terraces, a teaching table on Thursdays, and not a single dollar riding on any hand of it.

The floor

How a session is run

Cards and chips on the top terrace

Sessions start at six and a quarter to nine. You can take a seat mid-session if one is free, but the floor will not break up a table to make room.

Each table has a card of the house rules, a fresh deck weekly and a score pad. Pads go in the bin at close and nothing carries over.

One of us walks the room all evening. Wave and somebody will come — for a rules question, a drink or a fourth to fill your table.

Table questions

Before you sit down

How many to a table?

Six at most, four at the teaching table.

Can I come alone?

Regularly done. Tell the floor and you will be seated with a table that is short.

Do you run tournaments?

A social ladder in winter. No entry fee, no prize money, a trophy that is a repurposed film reel.

Can I bring my own cards?

The house supplies every deck. Yours stay in your bag.
